In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures the Floating Classroom has suspended education activity
This means cancelled trips, disappointed pupils, and brilliant learning projects put on hold. Like many small charities, we are facing unprecedented uncertainty, with funding lost or deferred as a result of the crisis.
Our social enterprise, The Electric Barge, is presented with a similar challenge as social distancing puts an end to gatherings and events for the time being.
The Floating Classroom’s mission is to encourage curiosity, spark delight in discovery, and to foster a sense of kinship with the natural world for people living in the city. In strange and uncharted times, we think these aims are more important than ever.
We pride ourselves on our resilience, restlessness, and determination to be brilliant. Our unique learning experiences will be back (and even better) as soon as possible.
In the meantime, you can follow us on Twitter and Instagram to stay in touch. Each day we’ll be posting #onegoodthing in celebration of the people, places, and things that inspire us or bring us joy.
(We’re also still available by phone and email in office hours)
Be safe and stay curious.
Love,
the Floating Classroom team
